Virus Free Computer - Introducing Norton 2011
Norton AntiVirus and Norton Internet Security 2011, which were released in September, are the only suite to achieve a 100 percent protection score in a third-party test from Dennis Labs. Norton 2011 has been carefully engineered to exceed Norton’s already industry-leading performance and protection benchmarks. They are also providing a free tool to consumers called “Norton Power Eraser” that is designed to eliminate fake antivirus or “scareware” applications.
Here are some of the new features in Norton 2011.
Reputation Based Security checks when and where programs originated to identify and stop malicious programs quickly. Norton’s reputation system also helps you determine whether your overall download behavior is risky.
System Insight 2.0 with new Proactive Performance Alerts monitors all of your running applications, and lets you know if any program is overusing system resources. This allows you to make changes as needed to actually improve your computer’s performance.
Download Insight 2.0 provides the most aggressive protection yet, checking every downloaded file for safety before it is allowed to run.
SONAR 3 brings a new level of security to Norton 2011, providing protection against threats that are specifically designed to evade other security features. With improved classification techniques, it identifies suspicious software based on the program’s behaviors and automatically handles the problem.
Norton Bootable Recovery Tool allows you to boot a computer into a safe state when a system is so deeply infected with a rootkit or other troublesome malware that installing security software or even properly starting up becomes impossible. New this year, the Bootable Recovery Tool wizard automatically creates a boot CD, DVD or USB drive for you quickly and easily.
In addition to the advanced protection offered by Norton 2011, the suite has proven to be the fastest and lightest security product in the world. According to testing data from PassMark Software, Norton 2011 came in first in overall performance among security suites.
