Nine West Boots Target Breast Cancer

New York Fashion Week is always one of the premier events of the season, with glamor, excitement, and beauty to spare. But during this September’s preview of new styles for 2011, there will also be an effort to raise awareness (and funding) in the fight against breast cancer.  is working together with the charitable arm of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) in a program called “Runway Relief” that will benefit the Council’s “Fashion Targets Breast Cancer” initiative.

Top fashion models Coco Rocha, Jessica White, Michelle Alves, Lisalla Montenegro and others will be wearing special limited edition Nine West boots during Fashion Week that  are equipped with an Omron GO smart pocket pedometer. The device will track how many steps each model takes during the events of the week and Nine West will make a donation based on the total number of steps.

According to Stacy Lastrina, Chief Marketing Officer for the company, “With Nine West’s Runway Relief Program we are capturing the energy that models exude during Fashion Week, and translating it into a meaningful way to motivate the fashion community and consumers to give back.”

“The boot has a combination of rugged, worn leathers and antique pewter hardware, creating a military-inspired boot that can be worn on the go with any outfit,” according to Fred Allard, Nine West’s Creative Director and the man who designed the boot.
