Friday Freebies: Watch Free Movies Online

We’ve sung the praises of  many times on these pages. With free two-day shipping on millions of eligible items for up to four accounts in your household all for the same annual fee, many people find that it more than pays for itself if you do much shopping at Amazon.com. Now they've added another benefit to Prime membership that sends it way over the top. Amazon announced this week that members will also receive unlimited streaming of thousands of movies and television episodes at no extra cost as part of their membership.

A quick survey of the front video page shows current hits like  alongside classics like  and . Some of the TV shows included are ,  and quite a bit of content from PBS.

You can watch the videos on either a PC or Mac, and also on any of nearly 200 models of Internet connected TVs, Blu-ray players and set-top boxes such as TiVo.

Since movie rentals from Amazon generally cost $2.99, even if you only take advantage of the free streaming every couple weeks, it would easily pay for the Prime membership cost of $79 annually. Add to that the already valuable benefit of free shipping on your orders, and Amazon has proven once again what an incredible value Prime is.

What’s more, you can try it out, for free for a month.
